Served with Hospitality - Cookbook
Served with Hospitality is easily one of the most beautiful cookbooks we have ever had the pleasure and privilege of reading. Created by the dear wife of the neighbor Mennonite boy Caleb grew up playing in the fields with, this book contains classic, approachable, and simply delicious recipes rooted in the farming and Mennonite traditions of Southwestern Ontario.
But this cookbook isn’t just another spiral bound, printer paper Mennonite recipe collection. It is much, much more, both in physical material and spiritual substance. Printed on some of the finest quality paper we have ever felt, bound in a velvety soft faux-leather hardcover, and sprinkled with stunning photos (almost all taken by the author herself!), this book is nothing short of world class, and easily one of the most beautiful quality cookbooks I have ever seen. More than that, this book is a humble and beautiful testimony to one woman’s experiences as a wife, mother, homemaker, and daughter of Christ, eager to open her heart and home in simple, genuine hospitality to those around her.
Vicki shares recipes, tips for hosting and creating beautiful meals and gatherings, and spiritual reflections that remind us of the importance of open and generous hospitality, even - or perhaps especially - in our chaotic, imperfect lives. In her own words, “We are far from perfect, but we serve a perfect God, and through His example we strive to reflect His love to those around us.”
Served with Hospitality is not only a recipe book full of meals that are sure to become family favourites and kitchen staples. It is a stunning tangible and visual experience of print and photo that is sure to delight. And even more than that, it is a humbly and beautifully written reflection on the transformative joys of opening our hearts, homes, and tables to those around us as a reflection of Christ’s own love and grace that transforms our lives.
